This remarkable island is uninhabited except for the residence of the Warden who oversees this magnificant Bird Sanctuary. Shark fisherman have camps along the beach during the season. A recent documentary on Isabella was shown on The Discovery Channel. We got to see it shown in the Town Square in San Blas. |

Yellow-footed BoobieOne of the most lovely anchorages thus far! A getaway for Mexicans and Americans alike. We met up with many new friends and had a cruiser pot-luck at one of the Palapas dotting the beach, complete with a huge bonfire. This photo was taken from the top of the now-extinct volcano. Its' slopes host to fruit-tree groves and herds of goats happily munching the thick jungle underbrush. |

Looking back up the Estuary in San Blas*******Frigate Birds flock to fisherman
San Blas is a very special little Mexican town where Norm & Jan Goldie (New York Ex-Pats) have been helping cruisers out for over 30 years, but alas, 2000 was their last. They want to do more professional fishing! (Jan is quite the Pro.) The No-See-Ums ('Jejene' in Spanish) are numerous and hungry for Gringo blood. They left great big welts on Jann and made me itch for days/weeks even! |
